Cumming is the county seat of Forsyth County.
The residents of Cumming can enjoy a large array of shopping with the North Georgia Premium Outlet Mall located only a few miles north of Cumming. North Point Mall and the Mall of Georgia are also within close proximity for your shopping pleasure.
The Forsyth County school system serves 22,048 students. All the schools are accredited by the Southern Association of College and Schools and have exceeded the standards as defined and measured by the Georgia Department of Education. A large percentage of Forsyth County's Schools are of relatively new construction due to the tremendous population growth of the county.
The north Georgia mountains are located just 30 minutes north of Cumming and Lake Lanier encompasses much of its 600 miles of shoreline in Forsyth County. Historical Facts
Cumming, the county seat of Forsyth County, was established in 1834. The city is said to be named either for Colonel William Cumming of Augusta, a prominent lawyer, or by local Cherokees for Sir Alexander Cumming of England, who settled in America in 1729 and became a Cherokee leader. There are a number of campgrounds in the city including Bald Ridge Creek Park, Sawnee Park and Shady Grove Park. Also located near Cumming is the historical Mill Covered Bridge, built in 1906, which spans Settendown Creek.

Fairgrounds -
From the first fair in 1995 to the many events it host today, the City of Cumming Fairgrounds bring a new level of entertainment to the City of Cumming each year:
The Cumming Fairgrounds is a Department of the City of Cumming. The Fairgrounds is host to a variety of events which include antique car shows, antique tractor shows, rodeos, Indian Festival, 4th of July Celebration, Quarter Midget Racing, Christmas Arts & Crafts Show and Celebration, and the Cumming Country Fair & Festival. The Fairgrounds is also host to some large rental events such as Relay for Life, Taste of Forsyth, Tour De Georgia, and others.
Cumming attractions: Lanierland Music Park -
In 1970, Lanierland Music Park opened their gates to two sold out shows with Hank Williams Jr. 3,600 people came out to see the concert in what was an old circus tent. Three years later, the owners purchased a building that has been expanded several times.
For the Past 36 years, Lanierland has had the top entertainers in country music grace their stage. This 4346 seat venue sets itself apart from other concert theaters because of the intimacy that is created between the star and audience. In a truly family atmosphere, people of all ages enjoy wholesome entertainment.
